Regulators To Facebook And WhatsApp: 'We're Watching You'
The FTC is letting the deal go through, but said the two companies must honor their privacy commitments to consumers. The FTC staff will continue to monitor the companies’ practices to ensure that Facebook and WhatsApp honor the promises they have made to those users. Both Facebook and WhatsApp have already said they will safeguard the privacy of their users. Last month WhatsApp’s founder Jan Koum defended his company’s commitment to the privacy of its more than 480 million active users.
