The taxi industry heard Google’s & Uber’s driver less car plans.

How do you think leaders of the taxi industry feel about this?

CEO Alfred LaGasse in an email to VentureBeat. Kalanick’s comment displays the same lack of consideration for people that Uber has shown when it comes to public safety in its transportation business. The TLPA represents 1,100 taxicab and limousine companies globally. While the giant tech company buried the partnership within a larger app update, Uber marketing manager Michael J Fine called the partnership "huge"

Snapchat can no longer legally claim that photos sent over its service are ephemeral, disappear forever and aren't saved, after a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission today. Snapchat is a private messaging app for sending photos that are supposed to disappear automatically after a certain amount of time. The idea is that Alice could send Bob a photo and feel secure that there was no way Bob could save the photo or share it with other people, or that anyone else could accidentally find the photo that was meant only for Bob.

Jury: Apple should duke it out with Google over patents.
If Apple thinks Google's Android infringes its mobile tech, the two should go head-to-head, jury members in the Apple v. Samsung trial say.

If Apple believes Android features infringe its technology, it should battle directly with Google instead of handset makers, jurors from the Apple v. Samsung patent-infringement trial said. Apple took pains to make its patent-infringement suit all about Samsung, not Android, but the jury wasn't quite convinced.

AOL Admits Data Breach Was Behind Spam Surge

AOL email accounts may have been compromised, and all AOL users are strongly encouraged to change their passwords. The admission came a week after floods of spam were discovered seemingly coming from AOL email addresses. The spam was sent to contacts in AOL users' address books and contained links for diet pills and Android malware. At the time, AOL denied that the company's systems had been hacked into, and insisted that the spammers were spoofing, or forging AOL users email addresses, not actually accessing the accounts. The second assertion turned out to be true, but it didn’t mesh with the denial of a data breach

Twitter Says Native Ads Will Be Available To All MoPub Publishers Tomorrow.

MoPub is making native ads available to all of its publishers tomorrow! Today’s MoPub blog post quotes executives from a couple of those early partners, including Flipboard CTO Eric Feng. (That’s Flipboard in the images above.) While the news doesn’t apply directly to ads on Twitter, the acquisition of MoPub is a way for the company to extend its advertising reach beyond Twitter itself (where units like Promoted Tweets are themselves a form of native advertising.)

Spring Break

What I did over spring break was hanging out with friends and family. I went to the mall with my mom and my Aunt. Watched movies with my little brothers/babysit. I had softball practice/games. Then, I went to my friends baseball games. I went to Starbucks like every other day with my friend.

Facebook Messenger gets WiFi calling feature in update

An update to Facebook Messenger is rolling out to users right now, offering a few interesting tweaks you may want to take advantage of. This update also offers WiFi calling. That’s right, Facebook is now offering VoIP. The group chatting feature is pretty simple, in that it offers you the opportunity to create groups for a chat, then pin them to a separate page within the app. You can even quiet the chat for periods of time, which is useful for those noisy members who you just wish would stop.

Samsung puzzled by early Galaxy S5 release in South Korea

The global launch of Samsung's latest smartphone has been upstaged by South Korean mobile networks.
SK Telecom, South Korea's largest mobile carrier, started selling the Galaxy S5 on Thursday, two weeks before the scheduled sales launch on April 11..Samsung said the earlier-than-scheduled release was made "independently" without its consent.

The company said it is "very puzzled" by SK Telecom's decision and is deciding how to respond. Its schedule of overseas launches remains unchanged. Other mobile operators, KT and LG Uplus, are following SK Telecom's move to release the phone early.

Do Now

A presentation is when you go in front of people and you talk about a topic or talk about whats going on or whats going to happen. If you do a project you may have to present it to your class or your class. A good presentation is when you don't mess up and you have a good topic to talk about.

Do Now

If i had an invisible cloak for 1 day I would love to save all the people and animals who are hurt. I find out where they are and help them out. I would stop everything just to help them out. I would bring them to a place for them to get healthy and rest.

I would help more of the people because people can't live a bad life. Animals can't either but i'll find a way to help them.

Tizen, not Android, to run Samsung's next Gear smartwatch.

Samsung on Monday will unveil its second-generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch, this one running the open source Tizen operating system, not the Android software that runs the first-generation model, according to reportsSamsung is by far the largest maker of Android smartphones and its relationship with Google is complex. Recently the two companies signed a 10-year cross-licensing deal on patents, while Google also sold Motorola to Lenovo. The latter move allayed Samsung concerns that Motorola could get preferentially treatment for Android innovations.

Zeichick’s Take: Gates is back, Ballmer is out and Nadella is up

*Big changes at Microsoft, and they didn’t come too soon. I am encouraged by the executive         shuffle.

*Satya Nadella is a successful Microsoft insider who gets that the future of Microsoft is bigger than operating systems and boxed bits on shiny discs.
    * What will happen to Microsoft’s billions of dollars of excess cash? The company could buy stock back or pay out big dividends to shareholders. The company could make bold acquisitions. It should do something with all that money.
   * Today we’re focused on a broader range of devices. While the deal is not yet complete, we will welcome to our family Nokia devices and services and the new mobile capabilities they bring us.
  * As we look forward, we must zero in on what Microsoft can uniquely contribute to the world
  * Mobile-first. Cloud-first. New things. I’m not exactly sure what those mean to a company that still makes the bulk of its money from Windows OEM licenses and selling boxes of Office DVDs.

Welcome!
